Visiting a Sunflower

At the first glance, this may seem to you to be just a sunflower! But to me, this was a gentle reminder of what it means to LIVE!

My brother saw that the birds had been dropping seed from the feeders that hang off of our balcony porch, overhead. My step-dad had planted new grass in the front yard, but the birds had a different plan as to what would grow there!

Trevor started watering...........

Soon, we had sunflowers! This was the first one to bloom! I heard that this flower decided to show the world its petals, that next morning I went for a visit.

What did I find?

The most perfect flower!

I came inches from this hummingbird!

Joy!

I also was landed on by this swallow tail butterfly!

New life is on its way!

It was here that I was reminded that life is about the simple joys. I went to visit this sunflower but walked away with so much more! It was a great start to my day to say the least!

Cheers!

What I Have Learned........

It has been over a year since I have posted on my blog. During this time, I have learned a lot. But there has been one life lesson that I have taken with me and has a way of showing up when I need the reminder.

Here it is:
It is very easy to get busy with things that do not matter in the big scheme of things. What do I mean? Well, how many hours a week do you work? Now, how many hours a week do you set aside for yourself? How many hours a week do you spend with your family?

Do you see where I am going with this?

A friend that I met that year put it the best way. It is easy to be busy and fill your schedule, but hard to schedule time for yourself. Why?

I feel that some people do it for wealth. What is wealth? To me, wealth is what you have that is irreplaceable. All of the money in the world could not buy me the things that I live for each day. Sure, we all want to be able to live in comfort financially, but if that is all you care about, you miss a lot in life.

I dare you to take time for YOU every day! You will be surprised to find what you have been missing.

How do I do this? (In no particular order)

1.) Go to Yoga once a week, or twice a week if you miss a session.

2.) Do not be afraid to go somewhere alone. I have met some great people sparking a conversation with the stranger in the coffee shop.

3.) Do not turn down a friend when they ask you to do something. (Unless you really do not want to.)

4.) Laugh at yourself!

5.) Enjoy your hobby!
Enjoy your hobbies and your time with nature.
Go hunting with a friend!

6.) Be silly.

7.) Volunteer in your community.

8.) Read books, share them with others.

9.) Sing in the car, no matter who your passenger is!

10.) Take the time to notice how it feels to be you, embrace that feeling.

Be silly!

11.) Find what makes you happy and indulge yourself in that.

12.) It might be hard sometimes, but we all have friends or family members that do not bring out the best in us. Separate yourself.

13.) Be your best every day.

14.) Every night before you go to bed, pick something for the next day to look forward to. Wake up with a purpose!

15.) Eat dessert first!

Relax!
Take the long way, you just might find what you have been looking for.

16.) Chase your biggest dreams!

17.) Never give yourself the chance to say. "What if?"

18.) Take the scenic route on your next adventure.

19.) Do not be afraid to share your thoughts, even when others are different.

20.) Smile!

Kiss a frog!

Watch the bird channel!

Amazing where you can find beauty.

Now, this lesson and life change did not happen overnight. But I am happier because I took a chance and followed my heart.

Be comfortable in your own skin and do not be afraid to try a new hair style, just for fun!

Welcome a new life to the world! Being an Aunt rocks!

You only have one life, be sure to live it! Leave a memory that you want to be remembered by once you are gone. Who have you impacted? How many shooting stars have you wished upon?
